When BYD issues a recall, affected vehicle owners are entitled to a free repair at any authorized BYD service center. The process typically works as follows:
BYD sends a notification letter to registered vehicle owners. In China, this is coordinated through SAMR. In export markets, through local transport authorities.
Contact your nearest authorized BYD dealer and provide your VIN number. They will confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
The recall repair is performed at no cost. This may include parts replacement, software update, or inspection depending on the recall.
After repair, you receive documentation confirming the recall was addressed. This is important for resale value and vehicle history.
A completed recall repair typically does not negatively affect resale value. In fact, having documented proof that a recall was addressed can be a positive selling point. An open (unrepaired) recall may affect resale value and should be disclosed to buyers.
Enter your VIN using the check above. If a recall appears as "closed" or "repaired", the previous owner completed it. If it shows as "open", the repair has not been performed and you should contact a BYD dealer.
Recalls are typically issued per market. A recall in China (SAMR) may not automatically apply to vehicles exported to other countries, and vice versa. Our tool checks both the Chinese SAMR database and international recall databases where data is available.
