Locate the VIN on the dashboard (driver's side), door jamb sticker, or vehicle registration. FAW Bestune models also display the VIN in the infotainment system under "Vehicle Info." Jiefang trucks have it stamped on the chassis rail.
The first three characters identify the FAW sub-brand. LFB = Bestune (newer models like T77, T99). LFP = Bestune/Benteng (older models). LFW or LFN = Jiefang trucks. LFV = FAW-Volkswagen joint venture.

Position 9 is a calculated check digit (0–9 or X) that validates the entire VIN. If a single character was altered — common with cloned or tampered VINs — our system will flag the mismatch immediately.
Position 10 gives the model year: N=2022, P=2023, R=2024, S=2025, T=2026. Position 11 identifies the assembly plant — Changchun (FAW HQ), Tianjin, Qingdao, or Chengdu. This confirms where your FAW was actually built.

In many export markets — especially Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia — the VIN is called the "chassis number" or "frame number." They are the same 17-digit code. Every FAW vehicle has the VIN stamped or printed in multiple locations. Here's where to look depending on whether you're inspecting a Bestune passenger car or a Jiefang commercial truck.
Look through the windshield at the base of the dashboard on the driver's side. The VIN is stamped on a metal plate visible from outside the vehicle. This is the standard location on all Bestune models.
Open the driver's door and check the B-pillar or door frame area. A white or silver sticker shows the VIN along with manufacturing date, weight ratings, and paint code information.
The VIN appears on your vehicle registration card, insurance documents, and the original purchase invoice. In China, it's also on the "Vehicle Driving License" (行驶证).
In addition to the dashboard plate, check the right-side front floor pan under the passenger seat. The VIN is stamped directly into the body metal. On T77 and T99 models, there's also a VIN label inside the engine bay on the firewall.
Sedans have the VIN stamped on the floor pan near the front passenger footwell. The B70 also has it on the right-side inner fender under the hood. Always cross-check multiple locations to verify no tampering.
Electric models have the VIN on the dashboard plate and door jamb sticker. The NAT electric taxi also has it on the battery pack housing. The Xiaoma/Pony micro EV has a simplified plate under the front hood cover.
Jiefang trucks have the VIN stamped on the right-side chassis rail near the front axle — this is the primary location for commercial vehicle inspections. It's also on the cab door jamb and on a plate riveted to the dashboard inside the cab.

Connect an OBD-II scanner to the diagnostic port (under the dashboard, driver's side). The VIN is stored in the ECU and can be read electronically on all 2016+ FAW models.

Position 10 of the VIN encodes the model year using a standardized character system. This is critical when importing a FAW vehicle — the model year determines emissions compliance, import duties, and warranty eligibility in most countries.

Finding the right parts for a FAW vehicle outside China requires VIN-level precision. The same model name can have different engines, suspension setups, and electronic systems across production years.
FAW genuine parts are sourced through authorized dealers and the FAW parts catalog system. Provide your full 17-character VIN to the dealer — the VDS section (positions 4–8) determines the exact engine, transmission, and trim variant. Bestune and Jiefang use completely separate parts catalogs despite being under the same group.
Many Bestune models share platforms and components with older Mazda designs (FAW had a technical partnership). The T77's 1.5T engine shares architecture with earlier FAW engines. For Jiefang trucks, aftermarket parts from Weichai (engines) and FAWDE (diesel components) are widely available through Chinese export suppliers.
Bestune body panels are unique to each model generation. The T77 had a significant redesign between 2019 and 2022 — panels are not interchangeable. Always decode the VIN to confirm the exact generation before ordering body parts.
Jiefang trucks come with multiple engine options — FAWDE CA6DM3 (11L diesel), Weichai WP12/WP13, and Cummins ISZ. The VIN's VDS section identifies the exact engine. Using the wrong parts can cause catastrophic failure on commercial vehicles.
Bestune's infotainment and ADAS systems vary by market and production date. Export-spec vehicles may have different software versions than domestic Chinese models. VIN decoding confirms the exact electronic configuration for diagnostic and repair purposes.
A logistics company in Lagos needed to replace the turbocharger on their 2023 Jiefang J6P (VIN starting with LFW). By decoding the VIN, they confirmed the truck had the FAWDE CA6DM3-46E6 engine — not the Weichai WP12 variant also available on the J6P.
