BAIC vehicles have VIN plates and stampings in several locations. The exact placement varies between sub-brands — Beijing off-road SUVs use body-on-frame construction with chassis rail stampings, while BAIC Motor and Arcfox unibody vehicles follow standard passenger car placement. Here's where to look on every BAIC Group vehicle.
These three locations apply to every BAIC, Beijing, Arcfox, and Foton vehicle regardless of model:
Open the driver's door and look at the door jamb area where the door meets the body. The VIN sticker is on the B-pillar — the vertical post between the front and rear doors. This is the easiest location to read on all BAIC models.
A metal or plastic VIN plate is riveted to the top of the dashboard on the driver's side, visible through the windshield from outside. Stand in front of the vehicle and look at the lower-left corner of the windshield.
Open the hood and look at the firewall (the metal panel between the engine bay and the cabin). The VIN is stamped or on a plate attached with rivets. On Foton commercial vehicles, this may be on the right-side inner fender.
Chassis rail stamping: The BJ40/BJ60/BJ80 use body-on-frame construction. The VIN is stamped directly into the right-side chassis rail, visible underneath the vehicle near the front suspension mount.
Why it matters: For off-road vehicles, the chassis rail VIN is the most tamper-proof location. If the chassis VIN doesn't match the dashboard plate, the vehicle may have been rebuilt or is using a salvage frame.
Tip: On BJ40 Plus models with aftermarket bumpers or lift kits, the chassis stamping may be harder to access. Use a flashlight and look from the passenger side near the front axle.
Floor pan stamping: Unibody construction — the VIN is stamped on the front floor pan under the passenger seat, visible when the carpet is pulled back.
Registration plate: Additional VIN plate on the left A-pillar (visible when the driver's door is open).
Tip: On X7 models, the floor pan stamping is partially covered by the center console trim. A small inspection panel makes it accessible without removing interior panels.
Battery pack label: Arcfox EVs have the VIN printed on the battery pack identification label, visible from underneath the vehicle on the battery enclosure.
Frunk area: The VIN plate is also located in the front trunk (frunk) compartment on the firewall area, since there's no traditional engine bay.
Important: The battery pack VIN must match the vehicle VIN. A mismatch indicates the battery has been replaced — critical information for EV buyers checking battery health and warranty status.
Right chassis rail: Foton trucks and pickups use ladder-frame construction. The VIN is stamped on the right-side chassis rail, typically near the front spring hanger or behind the front wheel.
Cab interior: On Auman heavy trucks, an additional VIN plate is mounted inside the cab on the passenger-side dashboard.
Export models: Foton vehicles exported to Africa and the Middle East may have an additional compliance plate with the VIN on the driver's door edge, required by local import regulations.

The BJ40 has gone through three major generations (2014, 2020, 2024) with different underpinnings. A "BJ40 front bumper" from 2019 won't fit a 2024 model. The VIN model year code (position 10) identifies which generation you need.
