Every SAIC Motor vehicle has the VIN (chassis number) stamped in multiple locations. Here are the universal locations shared across all MG, Maxus/LDV, and Roewe models, plus model-specific details.
Open the driver's door and check the B-pillar (the pillar between front and rear doors). The compliance plate shows the full 17-character VIN, build date, GVM, and paint code.
Look through the windshield at the lower-left corner of the dashboard (driver side). The VIN plate is visible from outside the vehicle — used by police and parking inspectors.
The VIN is stamped directly into the firewall or inner fender in the engine compartment. This is the hardest location to tamper with — always verify it matches the dashboard VIN.
The VIN appears on the V5C (UK), registration certificate (Australia), or title document. For imports, check the customs clearance paperwork for the original Chinese VIN.

Maxus commercial vehicles (especially T60 pickup and D90) have limited aftermarket support outside China. OEM parts from LDV dealers in Australia can take 4–8 weeks if not stocked locally.
MG4 and MG ZS EV battery packs are VIN-locked to the vehicle. Replacement modules must be programmed by an MG dealer. The VIN decodes the battery chemistry (LFP vs NMC) and capacity, which changed between model years.
Roewe parts are not distributed through any international dealer network. If you've imported a Roewe RX5 or i5, parts must be sourced directly from China — the VIN is essential for correct part matching.
